may 21, 1961 - White mob attacks federal marshals in Montgomery
Description:
This riot occured when there was a meeting led by MLK and several other leading activists in a church in Montgomery to honor the freedom riders. Many found out about the meeting beforehand and a riot met them there and surrounded the church and there was threats to burn down the church. 600 marshals were sent to defend the church and they did so, keeping the mob out of the church.
