jul 19, 1967 - Minneapolis Riots
Description:
This was the first day of rioting in North Minneapolis that lasted for about three days with vandalism, arson, and assaults. The rioting started as a result of tensions that had been building for years in North Minneapolis due to the fact that all minorities were forced to live there as a result of racism in the rest of the city. The way that it started is not certain, but many believe that it began with police brutality of a black woman, which sparked anger from the community.
