Emperor Leo III successfully repels a massive Umayyad Caliphate siege using the strategic deployment of "Greek Fire," halting Islamic expansion into Eastern Europe. Greek fire was a devestating new invention akin to a modern flamethrower. Greek Fire was extremely difficult to put out, spread rapidly, and could even burn on water. The Weapon was placed on the Theodosian walls and on Byzantine ships, devestating the Arab invasion.
