(2) Trait Theory. On this day Thomas Carlyle gave a lecture called "The Hero as Divinity". It was the first of six lectures he did on hero-worship. This lecture said that history is made by leaders who are born to lead. These leaders according to Carlyle shape the course of history. Thomas Carlyles lectures on hero-worship are still widely talked about today. They made people think about how leaders become great. The idea that leaders are born not made was a part of what Carlyle said. Thomas Carlyle believed that these exceptional people play a role, in making history.
