"SUNSET BEACH -- The grisly and bizarre discovery of one human leg wrapped in a plastic garbage can liner in a parking lot behind Broom Hilda's Saloon at 7:18am today [...]" (AB 4/25/73).

"The latest grisly discovery, made Wednesday [4/25/73], was that of a crudely severed leg. [...] Wednesday [4/25/73] in Sunset Beach in Orange County, one leg was found wrapped in cloth in a trash bin behind a bar at 9th St and Pacific Coast Highway" (LAT 4/26/73).

"A fifth green plastic garbage bag containing the left leg of a young man [...] was discovered Wednesday [4/25/73] in a trash can in Sunset Beach. [...] The left leg of the young man [...] was found shortly after dawn in a commercial trash bin behind Broom Hilda's Bar at 16865 Pacific Coast Highway. Tim McAuliffe of Sunset Beach told OC sheriff's deputies he made the grisly discovery while looking for ornamental cut glass in the trash bin. Deputies said the human leg was wrapped in three white paper towels and stuffed inside a 30-gallon trash can liner. A business card for a Covina pool table service and repair shop was also found inside the plastic bag" (SPNP 4/26/73).

"Four green plastic trash bags containing other parts of the man's body [other than the head] have been found in Terminal Island and Sunset Beach. [...] The fourth bag was discovered in a trash can in Sunset Beach" (TDB 4/27/73).
