Pharaoh Hophra, also known as Apries, ruled Egypt during the final years of the Kingdom of Judah. As Babylon threatened Jerusalem, some Judean leaders hoped Egypt would rescue them. The prophet Jeremiah warned against trusting Egypt, and Babylon eventually destroyed Jerusalem in 586 BCE.
