jan 1, 1537 - Suleiman the Magnificent (Ottoman)
Description:
Suleiman the Magnificent was one of the greatest Ottoman sultans. Under his rule, Jerusalem’s Old City walls were rebuilt between 1537 and 1541. These are the walls still visible around the Old City today. This project shaped the physical appearance of Jerusalem more than almost any other post-biblical ruler and marks one of the most important Ottoman contributions to the city.
