jan 1, 326 - Constantine the Great (Byzantine)
Description:
Constantine the Great was the Roman emperor who legalized Christianity and transformed the Roman Empire’s relationship with the Christian faith. Around 326 CE, Constantine ordered the construction of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, over the traditional site of Jesus’ crucifixion and burial. This changed Jerusalem from a Roman pagan city into one of the central holy cities of Christianity.
