Description:

"Discovered early Saturday morning [2/12/83] at the Euclid Street entrance to the Garden Grove Freeway. The body, which was discovered by an unidentified motorist, was apparently dumped from a passing car 'no more than 10 to 20 minutes' before police arrived at about 5:20am" (OCR 2/13/83).

"On Feb. 12, [1983,] the nude body of Geoffrey Nelson [...] was found on a freeway entrance in Garden Grove. The body of Roger [sic] DeVaul Jr [...] was found the next day between Claremont and Mount Baldy in the San Gabriel Mountains foothills" (VCR 5/18/83).

"Garden Grove police are investigating the slaying of Geoffrey Alan Nelson [...] whose nude body was found Feb. 12 [1983] at the Euclid Avenue on-ramp to the Garden Grove Freeway" (OCR 5/19/83).

"Nelson was dumped on the Euclid Avenue on-ramp of the Garden Grove Freeway Feb. 12 [1983] and Duvaul [sic] was found the next day, 36 miles away, by hikers on a hillside near Glendora Ridge Road in the Mt Baldy area" (LAT 5/19/83).

Body found four hours after last seen alive (OC16 Map).

"A Los Angeles police officer who found the body [of Geoffrey Nelson] on his way to work, about 5:15am, testified that he saw Nelson's leg move. Other authorities testified that the body showed no life signs but was still warm. Prosecutors contend that Nelson may have been alive when he was emasculated" (LAT 10/4/88).

"Nelson and DeVaul were last seen at about 1:30am on Saturday morning, Feb. 12, 1983. Nelson's body was found at 5:30am that morning [...] DeVaul's body was found near Mt Baldy in the Angeles National Forest the next day, Sunday, but evidence showed that he could have been dumped there as early as Saturday morning" (LAT 2/15/89).

"At 5:20am on Feb. 12, Donald Batchelder, a Los Angeles detective, entered the westbound Garden Grove (22) Freeway from the Euclid on-ramp in Garden Grove. He saw a nude body lying next to the curb. He stopped and started to get out, but noticed what appeared to be a slight movement in the right foot. Realizing that the person might still be alive, he backed down the ramp and drove to a nearby gas station to call for help" (Last Ride, Ch.6).
