Description:

"Found early yesterday [7/17/80] on the northbound Interstate 5 on-ramp at Talbot Road, about 10 miles south of Salem. Authorities said the man apparently had been strangled. His hands and feet were bound with cord. Oregon State Police said the body was found about 4:20am by a passing motorist" (SSJ 7/18/80).

"Discovered early Thursday [7/17/80] by a passing motorist at a northbound on-ramp along Interstate 5 about 10 miles south of Salem. [...] The body was reported to the state police at 4:20am" (ERG 7/18/80).

"Early Thursday morning [7/17/80], the nude body of a young man [...] was found. [...] The person who found the body at the Talbot Road on-ramp said he nearly hit the body with his truck early Thursday. 'I thought it was a stuffed animal,' said the man, who asked not to be identified. 'I swerved to miss it, luckily. I decided to go look at it because there was no traffic on the road.' He drove to the nearby home of Ric Bergey to call police. Bergey said he was asleep when he heard someone banging on his front door. He said he woke up and went to the door to see what was the matter. The man told him he had found a body and asked Bergey to call the police. Bergey said he called the police at 4am and then went with the man to wait for police at the scene" (SSJ 7/19/80).

"Found about 4:15am Thursday [7/17/80]. [...] Had been dead less than 24 hours when found." (SSJ 7/20/80).

"Found shortly after 4am Thursday [7/17/80] on the Talbot Road entrance to the northbound lanes of I-5 about 10 miles south of Salem. [...] The body apparently had been at the location for no more than two or three hours. Death probably occurred within 24 hours" (ERG 7/22/80).

"[He] apparently was seen hitchhiking south on I-5 near Barbur Boulevard in Portland at about 5:30pm Wednesday, July 16 [1980]. At that time, he wore blue denim 'cut-off' shorts and either a white V-neck T-shirt with blue shoulders or a white pullover shirt with a collar. However, no clothing was found on or near the body when it was discovered shortly after 4am Thursday, July 17, [1980]" (ERG 7/24/80).

"Found at the side of the road, strangled and bound hand and foot, by a motorist on his way to work" (SSJ 8/14/80).
