sep 13, 1783 - Treaty of Paris
Description:
The 3 American envoys in Paris, B. Franklin, J. Adams and J. Jay were thinking on their feet when they negotiated the best terms possible for the new United States without catering to their ally, France's interests. This treaty gave the U.S. European recognition of its independence, and all land west to the Mississippi, north to the Great Lakes and south to Florida and the gulf.
