mar 22, 1765 - Stamp Act

Description:

With the passage of this Act, Parliament sent the message that they intended to tax the colonists whether they liked it or not. The law required the purchase of a stamp to be placed on over 50 items including newspapers and legal documents. Parliament was attempting to recoup some of the cost for the French and Indian War. It received a very unwelcome response from the colonists.
