Description:
Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin in September 1928 at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. Upon returning from a vacation, the Scottish bacteriologist noticed that an uncovered Staphylococcus petri dish had been contaminated with a mold (Penicillium).
