nov 8, 1864 - Election of 1864
Description:
The Election of 1864 saw Abraham Lincoln running against his previous general, George McClellan. No new technology was used during the election. The outcome of the election was Lincoln winning the election and being elected for a second term. This contributed to the outcome of the war as it secured Lincoln’s second term to command the Union and continue the Civil War instead of McClellan possibly striking a deal with the Confederacy and ending the war early. This was important as it ensured the victory of the Union and allowed for the defeat of the Confederacy, which also allowed African Americans to enter society as new Freedmen.
