Description:
The Emancipation Proclamation was announced in 1862 and signed on January 1st of 1863 in Washington, D.C. No new technology was used. The outcome of this was the declaration of freedom for slaves in Confederate states. This event impacted the outcome of the overall war by adding something new that the Union was fighting for in addition to preserving the Union and giving the Union the moral high ground in the War. This event was important as it ended slavery in the Confederate States, an institution that had existed in the Americas for hundreds of years, and would give many African Americans a new chance at life.
