mar 1, 1140 - Sefer HaKuzari
Description:
Sefer HaKuzari was written by Rabbi Yehuda HaLevi, one of the greatest Jewish poets and thinkers of medieval Spain. The book is written as a dialogue between the king of the Khazars and representatives of different religions and philosophies, ending with a defense of Judaism.
It is important because it presents Judaism not only as a religion of abstract ideas, but as a living national faith rooted in revelation, history, the Land of Israel, and the experience of the Jewish people. It became one of the major works of Jewish philosophy.
