mar 1, 850 - The Siddur
Description:
The siddur developed from earlier Jewish prayer traditions attributed to the Men of the Great Assembly and the rabbis of the Talmud. The first major organized written siddur is traditionally linked to Rav Amram Gaon in the 9th century, whose prayer order became one of the foundations of Jewish liturgy.
The Siddur of Rav Amram Gaon is one of the earliest organized Jewish prayer books. Rav Amram Gaon, a major Babylonian Gaon, prepared it as a guide for Jewish communities who wanted to know the proper order of prayers and blessings.
It is extremely important because it helped standardize Jewish prayer after the Talmudic period. Many later siddurim were influenced by it, making it one of the foundations of the traditional Jewish prayer structure used across generations.
