Description:

The Southern Christian Leadership Conference was formed to be a non-violent Protest group standing up for civil rights. It was led by Martin Luther King Jr. and Dr. Ralph David Abernathy. This group was created after the successful non-violent Montgomery Bus Boycott. They wanted to make a different without using violence. Also the role of the African American Church helped shape the vision and goals for the Civil Rights movement.
