jan 1, 66 - First Jewish–Roman War
Description:
The First Jewish–Roman War began in 66 CE after years of Roman misrule, heavy taxation, corruption, and growing Jewish anger. Different Jewish factions fought Rome, but they also fought each other, especially inside Jerusalem, which weakened the defense. Rome responded with massive force, first under Vespasian and then under his son Titus. From a Jewish perspective, the war was a national catastrophe caused by foreign oppression, internal division, and spiritual crisis.
