jan 1, 41 - Herodian Kingdom Restored
Description:
The Herodian kingdom was briefly restored under Agrippa I, grandson of Herod the Great. He gained favor with Rome and gradually received territories until, by 41 CE, he ruled over a kingdom similar in size to Herod the Great’s. Agrippa I was more accepted by many Jews than earlier Herodians because he showed respect for Jewish law and Temple life. However, after his death in 44 CE, Rome again placed much of the land under direct Roman administration, increasing tensions that eventually led to revolt.
