jan 1, 73 - Siege of Masada
Description:
The siege of Masada happened after Jerusalem had already fallen. A group of Jewish rebels, mainly connected with the Sicarii, held the desert fortress of Masada against the Romans until around 73/74 CE. The Romans built a massive siege ramp to reach the fortress. Masada became a powerful symbol of Jewish resistance, survival, and tragedy after the destruction of the Temple, although its story is mostly known from Josephus.
