jan 1, 132 - Bar Kokhba Revolt
Description:
The Bar Kokhba Revolt took place from 132–135 CE against Roman rule under Emperor Hadrian. Its leader, Shimon Bar Kokhba, was seen by some Jews, especially Rabbi Akiva, as a possible messianic figure. The revolt initially succeeded in creating a short period of Jewish control in parts of Judea, but Rome eventually crushed it with overwhelming force. From a Jewish perspective, it was the last major attempt in antiquity to restore Jewish independence in the land.
