Today, we join the nation in honouring the life and legacy of Stephen Lawrence on Stephen Lawrence Day (22 April).

33 years on from his tragic murder, we reflect on the profound impact Stephen’s story has had on our society, laws, and approach to policing and justice.

For the YJB, today is a reminder of why our mission to ensure a fair and equitable youth justice system is so vital.

Stephen’s legacy challenges us to confront racial disparity head-on and to work tirelessly so that every child, regardless of their background, is treated with humanity and fairness. Through education, scholarships, mentoring and community programmes, the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation is ensuring children and young adults from under-represented backgrounds have the support, opportunity and belief they need to succeed.
