significance of the purge of indulgents:
- execution of 15 men was not enough to end large demands of putting a stop to terror
- by killing his own friend (desmoulins) Robspierre showed he had no limits
- this caused fear which caused opposition
- they killed 2 very popular figures of the revolution (many people didn’t even believe that Danton opposed revolution) —> leading to more opposition
