Description:

The Treaty of Paris, negotiated between the United States and Great Britain, ended the revolutionary war and recognized American Independence. The members of the committee that wrote the treaty were John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, Thomas Jefferson and Henry Laurens. The goal of this document was to end the American Revolution and formally recognize United States as an independent nation. This peace treaty had several terms that the British were expected to recognize:
1. The British acknowledge America as a sovereign nation
2. Acknowledge the American Boundaries
3. Granting of rights to US Fishermen
4. Debts be paid on either side
5. They recommend state legislatures to recognize the rightful owners of all confiscated land
6. US will not confiscate more property from loyalists
7. Prisoners of war be released from both sides
8. Both sides are granted access to the Mississippi River
9. Territories captured from the British subsequent to the treaty be returned
10. These terms be put into place 6 months after signing.
