jan 1, 3000 BC - Thar desert slowly transitions from semi-arid to arid
Description:
The Thar Desert transitioned from a predominantly semi-arid region to a more intensely arid desert environment primarily starting around 4,500 to 5,000 years ago (roughly 2500–3000 BCE).
Post-Glacial to Early Holocene (14,000–8,000 years ago): The region was generally wetter, with a stronger monsoon system supporting a more stable, semi-arid environment.
Mid-Holocene Shift (approx. 5,000–4,000 years ago): The Indian Summer Monsoon significantly weakened. This caused the abandonment of regional river channels, such as the Ghaggar-Hakra system, which previously reached the sea, to become seasonal and eventually dry.
