On this day, a week after his home was firebombed, Malcom X was shot to death by members of the Nation of Islam while speaking at a rally in New York City of his organization, called Organization of Afro - American Unity. This organization black identity and held that racism, but not necessarily the white race, was one of the greatest enemies of the African American community.
