Marquis St. Evrémonde was angry that no one was talking to him so he decided to leave. When he was leaving his driver was driving very crazy and they run over a child. Instead of trying to help the child or family he stays inside the carriage while the family grieves. He does not feel any remorse and throws the family some money. The child was named Gaspard. Defarge happens to be there to and confronts Marquis who throws him a gold coin as well
