mar 30, 2023 - Nate Taube develops INTERLOPER 5: A SHORT UPDATE

Description:

"Hey everyone, Anomidae here! So, I'm not sure if this is going to be a full video or not, uhm... If this is a full video, cut this part out - if this is a full video, leave it in - because I need some filler. Uhm... Yeah, that stream was, uh... pretty crazy. You know, rather than leave you on a cliff hanger like that, I wanted to very quickly just go over what the situation is, and-- Well, more so the lack of situation, I suppose I should say. Alright, if we go back to the process that we did a few days ago, the first thing we notice is that Portal: RTX is completely white. Now I-- I included this snippit in the final edit; However, I didn't really go into too much detail. You might remember that while Portal: RTX was open, there was also a server in the server browser that I could enter and then browse a second main menu of whatever game I was playing. However, that's not the case anymore: Whenever I load into the Portal: RTX server, I actually go in-game, and I'm on this big map. So, you probably noticed from the Counter-Strike: Source footage, when you're in spectator mode, you can actually see the name of this map. It's called 'int_menu', and it's just a big checkboard plane. There's not really anything you can do on the checkerboard plane; You can run around on it; Uhm... All the normal gameplay functions as you would expect, and the map is empty, uhm... If you run far enough in one direction, you do eventually reach the end, uhm... By my calculations of just running around the map, it does appear that its just a giant checkboard square with four edges on the side. Now, you can jump off, but, uh... Yeah, it doesn't like it when you do that; It crashes. So that's where I stand on int_menu; I'm really confident in saying it's just a big checkerboard square and nothing else. And, I explored it up, down, jumped off the ledge everywhere - All it does is crash the game, t-there's nothing down there. We actually found an exploit. If you go into spectator mode, you can actually fly into the square. There's nothing down there; You just leave the map. You can look at it, too, from a distance; It literally is just a big, empty square. Well, if you can see it, the problem is there is this dense fog that you can't turn off. So, yeah, as for Portal: RTX, just a white screen now. I have not taken any steps to try and troubleshoot it, because I'm worried that by uninstalling or reinstalling the game, that it's going to undo the process. So, yeah, that's where we stand currently. Aside from that, there really isn't anything else new. There's not a lot of information, and unfortunately, this is kind of where the leads dry up. Without access to being able to generate demos, there's not really anything else we can do on this investigation; It's more or less at a standstill. So, I think it's safe to say that the investigation is going to go on a hiatus. It's highly likely the hiatus will last until about November, because that's when we should hypothetically get access again. But, in the event that we don't, this might be the last episode. I wanted to thank you all for going on this investigation with me and helping me uncover as much as I can. And I hope that whoever is investigating this next, whether you encounter this investigation in a couple months or a couple years, I hope that these videos can help you pick up where I left off. So, thank you all for watching, thanks for watching the stream-- Very, uh... [SIGH] Is that really how I should end it? Very anticlimactic to, uh... end this years long invest-"
