According to legend, the island itself recognized a need for a guardian.
The tuft of fur glowed softly with amber light. The surrounding trees bent inward as though watching. Tiny sparks danced across the forest floor, and from that humble fragment of wolf fur emerged an elven child with bright blue eyes and pointed ears.
The wolves gathered around him without fear.
The newborn elf reached out a small hand.
The oldest wolf pressed its head gently against his palm.
