Description:

This battle all started when Union general Ulysses S. Grant was advancing south taking over different forts on the way. The forts he took over were Fort Henry and Fort Donelson. Next he was going to take a small town named Corinth, Mississippi which was an important railroad center.Before Grant could advance, Confederate General Albert Sidney Johnnston attacked. Eventually the Union drove the Confederates out and took over the railroad center.
