Description:
Juvento broke away from the CUT in July 1959 over Olympio's conservative policies. Prior to the April 1961 elections, the party made a tactical alliance with the northern-based opposition, the Union Démocratique des Peuples Togolais, forming the Mouvement Nationaliste Togolaise-Juvento.
