Access to village facilities and tourist attractions surrounding Lake Oakburn is prohibited, under threat of federal punishment. An analysis of the days leading up to the event reveals a strange vacuum of communication from Old Oakburn to nearby towns and villages, including the mother town of Ittosiviik. Interviews with frequent visitors to (...). Mental health experts emphasize the importance of community support in mass grief experiences. For a 'natural and healthy emotional processing of grief, dialogue with trusted relatives and friends is essential.' Grief is the response to the loss of something deemed important.
