Thomas Jefferson agreed with Congress to buy the Louisiana Purchase. I think it is a Economical event because it was a purchase and it opened up ways for the US to make money with the Port of New Orleans. America doubled in size. It enabled the common man to have his own land and make some money. Other territorial acquisitions would soon follow and people would be able to see the Pacific Ocean for the first time.Added to timeline:
