Oil began to leak from Seadrill's West Atlas rig in the Timor sea off the coast of Western Australia. All workers were evacuated, but the resulting oil slick spreads over 2300 square miles of water, killing marine life in affected areas. The leak was not plugged until November 1st.Added to timeline:
