jan 1, 1979 - Jack Halley gifts the last reel of
"Attack of the Somberville Spiders"
to Carson Grey
Description:
"To my good friend Carson: I'm sending this reel to you because I trust you'll keep it somewhere safe. It's the last reel we have in the warehouse. As you know, due to financial difficulties, Somber Film Company is shutting down, and we need to sell off our assets. But this reel is important and I don't think I have the means to keep it in good condition. The reel is of a film called Attack of the Somberville Spiders. It was shot back in 1952, and a great tragedy struck while it was in production. Most of the cast and crew perished. I don't know the full details as I was hired some years later to edit what film they managed to recover. All I was told was that the director, Howard Jason, had become obsessed over the caves of Somberville, and so he decided he would shoot a movie there. I thought maybe something happened with the caves, possibly a cave-in or something similar. But reviewing the footage made me question everything. Talking about it would be disrespectful to the victims, because frankly, it's just so absurd that nobody would believe it. I'll spare you the details for now. Watch it and see for yourself. If you ever need extra cash, sell the rights to a local station to air it on a late night block."
