dec 16, 1773 - Boston Tea Party
Description:
Dec. 1773- The colonists were locked in a struggle of principles about Parliament's right to issue taxes. Rather than allow Parliament to pull a fast one by selling really inexpensive tea, with the tax, Patriots grabbed the tea, ($60,000 worth) and sent it into the salt water. This act of defiance was a step beyond a boycott, and the British parliament responded harshly by closing Boston harbor until they paid for the tea. Is it starting to sound like a teenager/parent relationship?
