jan 1, 2003 - First Black Police Chief

Description:

Chief Robert White emphasized necessary cultural change, spent time in West Louisville, met with activist groups and crucially improved relations between LMPD and the Black community. The number of police shootings of Black men declined, and were handled differently, including placing on leave and firing McKenzie Mattingly within 4 months after he shot a 19 year old.

Chief White was asked to return after Breonna Taylor but declined.
