jan 1, 1985 - Marshall Investigation

Description:

In 1985 a resurgence of the Klan was investigated after arsonists set fire to a black family home in louisville’s Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood (predominantly White). The resulting investigation found that the new Klan’s leadership was made up in part by local police officers and sherrif deputies from Louisville, Jefferson County, and some of the other nearby municipalities. Some resigned but many were not forced to, so that only in 2021 were two officers who had been named as Klan members in that report were forced to leave their posts.
