Incident which took place in December 1937 which could have sparked global war:- Japan bombed the American patrol boat USS Panay.
- A British gunboat, HMS Ladybird, also came under fire while stationed in the Yangtze river.
- Britain would take action if the US did but the US still stayed as asn isolationist.
