Got a very severe ear infection which the Doctor did not treat properly.

She found out the Doctor did not treat the infection properly because her home Doctor was furious - it was too late by the time they got home.

She developed Septicaemia and was rushed to the isolation hospital spending three weeks hovering between life and death.

She spent most of her time in the hospital in a delirious state, but can remember seeing planes taking off and landing outside her window.

Her parents took her home, although she couldn't walk, she was in a very weak state. Ever since the ear infection she was never athletic.

Her parents brought her a maroon tricycle and Jean, her step-sister, took her to East Park in Hull.

having become more confident and daring, Grandma tried to get more speed by going down a steep slope and at the end she tried to turn right but had a nasty fall - the bike wasn't scratched.

Having returned to school after recovering from the ear infection she found that one of her classmates, Bruce McAllister had got her seat at the top table. She was devastated, but Miss Rose soon found room for her.
