Description:
Appeared as early as the 15th and 16th centuries in Italy. Originally the cradenza referred to the act of food/drink tasting for safety (poison testing) in royal households. In later years, as furniture, the cradenza became a display/storage piece-sideboards or cupboards for serving and showing off valuables.
