mar 7, 1733 - Molasses Act

Description:

British Parliament passed this act under pressure from British West Indian Planters who wanted to shut down trade between the North American colonies and the French West Indies. The Act, if enforced, would have crippled the 13 colonies by depriving them of a good source of income. This Act, an object of salutary neglect, was almost virtually ignored by British Colonial officials.
