Description:

After Battle of Nasa, The Seljuk brothers Tughril and Caghri Beg marched into Khorasan, and captured Nishapur before Ghaznavid Shah Maziar resolved to force the Seljuqs to leave his territories in 1037. During the march of Shah Maziar's army, the Seljuq raiders harassed the Ghaznavid army with hit-and-run tactics. They also destroyed the supply lines of Ghaznavids, cutting them off from the nearby water wells. As a result of these tactics, the discipline and morale of the Ghaznavid Army dropped seriously.
Finally, outside Dandanaqan, near Merv, Maziar was routed, leaving Caghri to rule Khorasan and Tughril to go on to capture Spahan.
