Leek’s Second Charter granted 1220The town has developed as a commercial centre.
Moorhouse, to the south-east is an occupied site. It is Leek’s first suburb being situated on the “other side” of the marsh where the Monument now stands.
There were 80½ burgages in Leek The Earl receives 20s. from tolls from the market and the fair.
