The Earl of Chester founds Dieulacres abbey, beside the Churnet, a mile north of the town, at Cholpesdale. It later has granges at Swythamley , Birchall, Westwood, Roche Grange, Foker, and Easing. The Parish priest is “living near the church.”Added to timeline:
