Description:

Between the Civil War and 1887 immigrates and white people want more land that was open. At the time "friends" of the Natives didn't agree on keep Natives from being self-sufficient. Then the US senate pushed a law for president to have to split up reservation lands for people. Martha Berryhill made a deal with the Indians to have their land moved to a more reserved private or confiscation place. She then sold them land if there was any left. It was hard to make a life for the Native Americans so they ended up selling allotments to farmers and ranchers. "In 1881, Indians held more than 155 million acres. By 1890, they held 104 million acres. By 1900, 77 million acres."
