Description:
After the western usurper general Constantine III was defeated, the Burgundians and Alans made Jovinus his successor and puppet to the two tribes.
The Visigoths, now allied with the legitimate emperor Honorius, attacked the new usurper, defeating him. Jovinus attempted to flee but was captured and executed in 413. His Alans joined the Visigoths and migrated further south into Spain, and the Burgundians where given the Rhineland as a settlement.
In the chaos, the Franks took Trier and the northern rhinelands.
