Description:
In 350, eastern emperor Constantius II raised an army to quell the western usurper Magnentius. In order to surround Magnentius, who was stationed in Gaul, Constantius gave Germans bordering the Rhine permission to invade.
A strip 40 miles of the Rhine was occupied by the Germans and Salian Franks moved into Northern Gaul.
