Description:
Tokenly was a blockchain company created by Adam B. Levine (including Nick Rathman, Devon Weller and Steven Levine) that focused on developing applications to utilize Counterparty tokens for users, businesses and communities.
Tokenly built software that conducted 'Swapbot' services which included buying, selling and swapping tokens without using an exchange. They also developed 'Tend' services with the TokenSlot API that allowed users to create customizable redemption forms for goods, services and even custom forum access. This also supported collecting information, confirming payments, notifying merchants and even paved the path for websites and apps to support credit cards and various altcoins.
Tokenly even included services like auctions and 'multi-asset sends' which would predate the MPMA protocol function developed later by John Villar as well as 'Enhanced Token Data' that would be considered very similar to CoinDaddy services as well as the CIP25 structure that were released later by Jeremy Johnson.
A significant amount of the business model was tied around renting these services out for flat monthly fees without taking percentage costs of the transactions. Tokenly offered the open-source 'Tokenly Pockets' wallet that allowed for custom branding and even 'in-wallet' directory listings.
Just one historic token linked to Tokenly would be the 'TOKENLY' Counterparty asset which was sold as a gift certificate that was directly redeemable for at least $5 of hosted services. This company was also the forefront centerpiece for the LTBCOIN rewards program and various LTBCOIN related assets used on the Let's Talk Bitcoin podcast, website and forums.
In addition to rewards systems, crowdfunding, digital rights management and even token eCommerce, Tokenly was at the forefront of 'token access control' experimentation and real world application for personal and business usage. So much so that Adam B. Levine wrote a paper titled 'Token Controlled Viewpoint (TCV) Genesis, Characteristics and Early Use Cases' that outlined a philosophy that goes beyond just 'Token Controlled Access'.
Tokenly is one of the most documented early companies and truly an experimental cornerstone within the Counterparty ecosystem that would go on to create Token.fm, help crowdfund Tatiana Moroz's 'Keep The Faith' album, link active projects at the time like Augmentors and Spells of Genesis to their ecosystem and pave the way for free usage of tokenized systems using Counterparty.
Sadly Let's Talk Bitcoin, Tokenly, Tokenly Pockets and many of the functions, extensions and features they offered are out of service or not supported actively at this time.
